Lampasas Police Chief Jody Cummings confirmed at 5:20 p.m. that the suspect of a shooting has barricaded himself into his own home in the 200 block of North Arnold Street. Officers are attempting to make contact.
“We have had a shooting at a house, and we have a suspect that has gone into his own house,” Cummings said. “The immediate block has been evacuated, and there is no known danger to the public at this time.”
Cummings said despite rumors that a suspect is on the loose, police know him to be within his own home. He is thought to be alone at this time.
“Texas DPS and SWAT are on scene trying to make establish contact. We have heard shots fired from inside his home,” Cumming said. “We’re in waiting mode.”
The earlier shooting occurred down the street, the chief added.
