Annual Kid Fish starts today

The annual Kid Fish event, hosted by the Lampasas Parks & Recreation Department, begins today.

The event at W.M. Brook Park is open to kids ages 2 to 16. The event is come one, come all, and has been held in Lampasas for more than 16 years.

Fishing registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Youth can bring a fishing pole from home or borrow one from event staff. Fishing will take place Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Children who want to camp overnight at the park must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A hot dog supper will be held at 7:30 p.m., with a showing of the movie “Migration” to follow at dark.

Fishing will continue until noon Saturday, with breakfast tacos provided at 7 a.m.

Awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m. to those who catch the biggest fish. The competition will be divided into age groups 2-6 years, 7-11 years and 12-16 years.
