KWSC line repaired, boil water notice still in effect

Update: As of 11:51 a.m., KWSC officials said many customers may still be without water or water pressure.

"KWSC is still working hard to get water moving through the system," officials said in a public statement. "Those of you that had water yesterday and early this morning were running off a tank and that tank is now too low to provide water. All tanks, and approximately 400 miles of pipeline, have to fill before all areas are back to full pressure."

Repairs of the Kempner Water Supply Corp valve break were completed overnight, Lampasas City officials announced.

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, city officials said KWSC has been working to pressurize the water lines and flush air from the system.

“Water is now being sent to the city, however, the pressure at the two main valves has not met the threshold to open them and let water into our water system,” Lampasas City officials said in a public statement. “While our tanks are very low, the good news is the water has made it to Lampasas and within the next few hours we can begin opening valves and flushing city water lines for air.”

Residents without water should contact city hall at 512-556-6831. There will be a water tanker with non-potable water available at 800 4th Street, behind the Lampasas County Annex Building, at 8:45 a.m.

“The city will begin taking water samples once our system has fully pressurized. This will [most] likely begin tomorrow. Once the samples have been tested and they pass, the city will then rescind the Boil Water Notice,” officials said.

The testing typically takes 24 to 48 hours so the Boil Water Notice could be in effect through the weekend.

City officials thanked citizens for their water conservation efforts during this emergency.
