Another day of excessive heat has been predicted by the National Weather Service.
NWS officials issued an excessive heat warning at 5:18 a.m. Friday, to remain in effect until 9 p.m.
Meteorologists predict “dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 108 [degrees] and heat index values up to 113” in North and Central Texas.
That warning was accompanied by a hazardous weather outlook due to high temperatures and fire risk.
“Oppressive heat and an elevated fire threat will continue across the entire region today,” NWS officials said. “There is a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Gusty winds and lightning will be the primary hazards.”
The risk will continue over the weekend and early next week.
Meteorologists predict “hot temperatures and an elevated fire threat will continue” Saturday through Thursday.
“Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible across most of the region this weekend and Monday,” officials said. “Lightning and gusty winds will be the primary hazards.”

NWS meteorologists predict Saturday will see a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., but it will be sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Southwest winds will remain at about 5 mph.
