The Sulphur Creek Car Cruise typically draws hotrod entrants in its Burnout Competition, but this year even motorcycles participated in the popular event. More photos and results from the competition will be available in the Friday edition of the Dispatch Record.

Game wardens discuss recent gator sighting in river

An alligator was spotted in Lampasas County earlier in June. That undoubtedly is a creature people don’t see very often around here.In talking with both past and present game wardens, however, it’s not quite as shocking as the sighting may seem initially.

Common ownership of water plant could be beneficial

A regional water authority anchored by the city of Lampasas and Kempner Water Supply Corp. could be in the cards.On June 19, the two entities held a joint meeting to discuss the idea of a combined water treatment plant on Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

Community gathers to celebrate Juneteenth holiday

Attendees of the Juneteenth celebration on June 19 at the Lampasas Colored School were treated to a special lunch. Food was provided by the Juneteenth Planning Committee and CaMeSo Gardens.

Saddle the Wind Band performs

A recent Friday night concert performance at the courthouse bandstand featured Saddle the Wind Band, with Junior Myers playing steel guitar and Barbara Myers the lead vocalist. Other band members are Ronnie Schulze, Kevin Grant and Tommy Horton.

Saltworks Camp places third in Holland Corn Festival parade

Saltworks Camp No. 2353 of Lampasas, Sons of Confederate Veterans, earned third place in the parade at the recent Holland Corn Festival. The recognition reflects the camp’s continued participation in area community events and festivals across Central Texas.
