The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor, Big Creek Construction Ltd., has begun work on a nearly $55 million widening project on U.S. Highway 183 North. The project extends from a half-mile south of Lometa to the intersection of U.S. 281 in Lampasas.

Classics group to gather on Saturday

GOP, Democrat Party both will feature propositions on March 3

When voters go to the polls for the March 3 primary elections, candidates for federal, state and county races will not be the only considerations.Voters in both the Republican Party Primary and the Democratic Party Primary will have policy positions on which they can cast a “Yes” or “No” vote.

Filing deadline nears for school board, municipal elections

Only one week remains in the filing period for local city council and school board elections.To file an application for a position on the ballot, potential candidates should contact the individual entities below. Applications must be completed and turned in by 5 p.m. Feb. 13.Election day is May 2.
