TxDOT continues U.S. 281 construction

The Texas Department of Transportation Brownwood District is making progress on its plans to revamp U.S. Highway 281.TxDOT officials said construction at the Lampasas High School entrance and improvements near Sulphur Creek for the new portion of Business 281 is continuing.

The time has come to say goodbye

After five decades in various roles at First Texas Bank of Lampasas, Sylvia Hernandez is ready to say one last goodbye to customers and co-workers as she retires.First Texas Bank will celebrate Hernandez’s 50 years of dedication on Friday from 2-4 p.m.

Sales tax receipts rise across county

Entering the second half of the year, most cities in the surrounding area saw their sales tax allocations rise this month while the average rebate across the state remained relatively flat.Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that local sales tax payments for July 2024 were 0.

County Judge Randy Hoyer has extended the period in which outdoor burning is allowed.A burn ban adopted July 8 had previously been lifted through July 22.After weekend rains in the county, the period during which burning will be allowed now has been extended until July 22.

Various floats recognized at Spring Ho Parade

The Spring Ho Grand Parade always features many floats that match the theme of the week or that stand out to show their hometown spirit.This year was no exception. Results from the float competition are as follows.The Grand Champion honors went to Home Town Health Care.

Water sports and cardboard regatta winners listed

The city of Lampasas hosted Water Sports & Cardboard Regatta competition at the Hanna Springs Swimming Pool during Spring Ho activities.Several events were offered for participants up through age 10. Results, provided by the city Parks & Recreation Department, follow.BALL PICKUP, AGES 0-3 YEARS 1.

The ’36 Club coordinates County Fair during Spring Ho

On July 10-12, as a part of the Spring Ho activities, the ’36 Club of Lampasas chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs hosted the Lampasas County Fair in conjunction with AgriLife Extension Service and the Spring Ho Committee.
