LHS entrance set to reopen

Texas Department of Transportation contractors completed restriping of the Lampasas High School entrance at U.S. Highway 281 on Friday.Crews have been working on redevelopment of the LHS entrance since June 12.The first day of school for all Lampasas ISD students is Aug. 8.

Authorities confirmed Friday a barricaded suspect was responsible for a Thursday shooting that left two Lampasas women dead. The perpetrator of the double homicide had no prior connection with his victims, authorities said.

Kempner City Council members held a budget workshop during last week’s regular meeting and voiced their approval of the city adding another police officer.Boosting the Kempner Police Department would result in a 52% increase to the city’s tax rate – which currently is $0.

Update: At 11: 51 p.m. on Thursday, Lampasas Police confirmed the barricaded suspect of a shooting had taken his own life. “Law Enforcement on scene have confirmed that the stand-off has ended and the suspect is deceased from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Greenhouse ready for student use this upcoming school year

Lampasas High School has a new greenhouse that will be available to floral students this fall. The greenhouse is in the final stages of completion.The structure was approved earlier this spring by the LISD Board of Trustees for $54,299.55.
