Sgt. Sheldon set to retire from Lampasas Police Department

For nearly his entire life, all Sgt. Steve Sheldon has known is law enforcement. After 30-plus years in the field, he is ready to bid his position farewell.Sheldon has been with the Lampasas Police Department since 2003, where he has served in multiple capacities.

LPD warns of scam targeting local residents

Lampasas Police Department issued a community alert last week warning of a phone scam targeting residents.“We've received reports of scam phone calls circulating in our community where individuals are falsely claiming to be City Hall employees,” LPD officials said on social media.

Free Fishing Day in Texas slated for June 7

The annual Texas tradition of Free Fishing Day is back this Saturday at public waterways across the state.Each year on the first Saturday in June, Texans and out-of-state visitors can fish on any public waterway in the state without a fishing license.

These young anglers were spotted fishing at W.M. Brook Park last year. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department designates the first Saturday in June as Free Fishing Day to encourage families to spend time outdoors fishing at a public waterway.

EDC, City Council axe joint meeting

The Lampasas Economic Development Corp. planned to host a joint meeting alongside the Lampasas City Council on Wednesday. However, those plans were canceled hours before the meeting.A new date for a joint meeting has not been set, according to Lampasas City Manager Erin Corbell.
