A Texas state trooper sustained no major injuries after a truck-tractor lost control and crashed into the trooper’s unit along U.S. Highway 190 Friday night.
A news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety said at 11:18 p.m. Friday, a Texas Highway Patrol unit was stopped in the center turn lane on U.S. 190, near County Road 3068. The trooper was waiting to make a U-turn to pursue a reckless driver who had passed his location.
The trooper was waiting for an approaching westbound truck-tractor to pass him before completing the U-turn.
The truck driver told DPS officials he thought the patrol unit stopped in the turn lane was another vehicle attempting to enter his travel lane, and he applied the brakes.
The truck-tractor’s brakes locked, causing the vehicle to jack-knife and lose control. The truck crossed into the path of the trooper’s vehicle, and they collided, the news release stated.
Neither the truck driver nor the trooper sustained major injuries. DPS said the crash investigation remains open at this time.
