Rain is expected today, tonight and tomorrow, National Weather Service officials said.
NWS meteorologists issued a hazardous weather outlook at 3:21 a.m. Friday morning, noting stormy conditions are expected today for Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, Hamilton and surrounding counties.
“There is a chance of thunderstorms today and tonight, with the best chances being south of I-20 and west of I-35. Severe weather is unlikely, though a storm or two could produce small hail and locally heavy rain,” the outlook read.
Stormy conditions are expected to continue tomorrow and next week.
“There is a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, and again on Tuesday and Wednesday,” officials said.
Meteorologists predict a 90% chance of rain showers and accompanying fog in the Lampasas County area today, mostly before 4 p.m. A high of 83 degrees is anticipated. In the late afternoon and evening, chances of thunderstorms are at 50%. A low of 67 degrees is expected.
“New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch [are predicted], except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms,” the NWS forecast read.
On Saturday, rain showers are likely, and thunderstorms are possible before 1 p.m., with the chances of thunderstorms increasing after that time. The chance of precipitation is 70%, with rainfall between a tenth and a quarter of an inch expected, with higher amounts possible during thunderstorms. A high of 85 degrees is expected.
Saturday night will see a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Lows of 66 degrees are expected.
