Around mid-afternoon Monday, three separate grass fires erupted on the side of the roadway along North U.S. Highway 281 near County Road 3500.
The three fires were very close together, with less than a mile separating the farthest two blazes, Lampasas Fire Marshal Jon-Paul Harris told the Dispatch Record.
