A 30-year-old Lampasas woman was arrested by the Lampasas Police Department for allegedly stabbing her fiancé in the right buttocks in an incident that occurred at 1300 Central Texas Expwy. during the early hours of June 28.
Tara Michelle Ramirez faces one charge of aggravated assault against a family/household member or dating partner with a deadly weapon, a firstdegree felony.
According to Sgt. Investigator Larry Wilson, the police department was notified by Ramirez’s 27-year-old fiancé at 12:38 a.m. that he had been stabbed and was bleeding “profusely.” Officers arrived on the scene minutes after the call was placed.
Wilson said the stabbing incident occurred because of a disagreement between the couple. Officers who responded believe intoxication may have been a factor.
“Alcohol might have had a hand in it,” Wilson said. “It is a possibility from the officers that were on scene. They believe some alcohol was involved.”
Due to the injuries sustained, the 27-year-old male was taken by helicopter to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital via CareFlite. Police officers were not met with resistance from Ramirez during her arrest, Wilson said.
Agencies on the scene included the Lampasas PD, CareFlite, Hamilton EMS and the Lampasas Fire Department.
Aggravated assault typically is a second-degree felony but can be enhanced when it involves a family member, household member or dating partner.
If found guilty of the charge, Ramirez could face 5 to 99 years in prison, with fines ranging up to $10,000.
