Sales tax allocations in April brought mixed results for area cities. Rebates across the state were down almost 4% from what was paid out in April 2024, according to statistics released by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.
The monthly sales tax percentage comparison for the city of Kempner dipped into negative territory for the first time since July 2021, as its April payment was down 1%.
Kempner had posted double-digit percentage gains every month but one for all of 2023 and 2024. Now those sales tax receipts have slowed somewhat in 2025.
