Hostess House ready for use again

The historic Hostess House is officially back in commission. The building received quite a facelift after undergoing renovation over the last couple of years.

Residents have begun utilizing the venue since it reopened at the end of February, and more events and gatherings are on the schedule for the future. The facility has been a popular place for weddings, high school reunions, organizational meetings, banquets and more.

The Hostess House has a new, upgraded commercial kitchen space now with stainless steel appliances. Bathrooms are available on both the first and second floors, and a new elevator has been installed so guests don’t have to go up and down the exterior stairs to reach each room. The second floor also features a new stage.

City staff and the Lampasas City Council members are pleased to have the historic site back in use after spending several million dollars to renovate it and ensure the building is ADA-compliant.

Previously, City Secretary Kayleigh Stanley said the total cost for the Hostess House project came in around $3.2 million. The project took several years to complete after a stop work order was put in place and then lifted in May 2025 to revisit structural concerns that needed to be addressed.

Lupe Charping with the city’s parks department provided a tour of the site on Thursday.

The Hostess House has been an iconic Lampasas venue for generations. The building sits prominently next to the Hancock Springs Free-Flow Pool and is adjacent to Hancock Park Golf Course.

The last remaining portion of the project entailed rerouting of the entrance to the Hostess House parking lot, which is off U.S. Highway 281 South. Some road construction is ongoing and should be finished in the coming months.
