A grass fire on Jackrabbit Lane came close to homes on that street in Kempner on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Kempner Volunteer Fire Department Chief Connie Green, the fire was only 15 feet from one residence. Based on aerial estimates, the wildfire encompassed approximately 10 acres of land.
