LMS Minnow Camp on tap next week

With the school year set to start Aug. 10, incoming sixth-grade students will have the opportunity next week to familiarize themselves with their new middle school campus. On Aug. 3, Lampasas Middle School will host its Minnow Camp from 4-6 p.m.

In the world, we face big and small things all day. We decide when to rise, whether to drink coffee or tea and what to eat for breakfast. What to wear, where to go, who to see. Simple things. And sometimes, the decisions are arduous, and living feels hard like flint.

Lometa ISD offers free student meals

Lometa Independent School District has qualified to serve breakfast and lunch to all students on campus at no charge for the 2023-2024 school year. There is no requirement to complete meal applications for free or reduced-price student meals.

Salvato named Community Champion

The city of Lampasas recognized Julie Salvato, a long-time librarian and recent Career and Technical Education director with Lampasas ISD, as a Misti Talbert Community Champion of the month.

Light pollution can be a predictable side effect of a growing city like Lampasas, but preventing it is possible and important for preserving wildlife patterns and the rural atmosphere.

Key dates upcoming for LISD

The first day of school for the 2023-24 Lampasas ISD school year is officially less than a month away. The district has released key dates this summer for parents and students to have their eyes on. On wednesday, LISD will host its new student registration for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Threads of creativity

Every Monday and Thursday morning, a group of ladies meets at the Lampasas Senior Center to practice what some might call a dying art. They are quilters, and they are friends.

42 Tournament winners announced

The annual Spring Ho Festival 42 Tournament took place Tuesday, July 4 at Putters & Gutters Fun Center. Taking first place were Don Flowers and James Young. Alan Galbreath and Murray D. finished in second place. Third-place honors went to Shad Hill and John Hines.
