Low-cost EKGs offered at LISD campuses today

Middle school and high school students will have the opportunity to receive low-cost EKGs today, thanks to the Cody Stephens Foundation.Lampasas ISD is partnering with the foundation to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest.

Fundraiser set for Lampasas woman in need

Mary Ballance keeps to herself, her friends say. She’s also a mother of two and a 1997 Lampasas High School graduate in need of a helping hand.Ballance received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in December 2022.Her friend and neighbor Candice Morua organized a fundraiser for Ballance.

Farm Bureau donates books to classroom

Clay Phillips of Texas Farm Bureau Insurance donated a classroom set of the book “The Nuff” to Crystal Mickan’s kindergarten class at Taylor Creek Elementary. Two copies also were given to the school library for others to enjoy.

Kids’ painted chair event offered today at library

The Lampasas Public Library is hosting a Kids' Chair Painting Event on today from 3-5 p.m.Kids of all ages are invited to come paint a miniature chair -- a fun addition to the Katherine Mezger Painted Chair event.These chairs will be on display at the library until April 27.

Mark your calendar: Diamondback Jubilee ahead!

The last weekend in March will bring some excitement to the city of Lometa, with the annual Diamondback Jubilee set to take place March 29-30.Both days will feature vendors, live music, rodeo festivities and more.The Diamondback Jubilee Rodeo Queen will be crowned on Saturday night of the festival.

LHS fire, EMT, law enforcement teams excel at state meet

Lampasas High School fire, EMT and law enforcement teams reached new heights at the Texas Public Service Teacher Association state competition on Feb. 24 at Lone Star College.The competition featured 36 schools and 400 students.LHS cell extraction and traffic top teams earned first place.

Lometa principal announces resignation, effective at end of year

Lometa Principal Amanda Morris has decided its time to move on to other endeavors, as she announced her resignation at the Jan. 15 school board meeting.Although her resignation won’t go into effect until the end of the school year, her decision will allow the district time to find a replacement.
