McQueen to resign AD hired as Hardin-Simmons receivers’ coach

Lampasas Athletic Director/ head football coach Joey McQueen announced Thursday he will step down from his position to take the receivers’ coach post at Hardin- Simmons University in Abilene.

All the excitement and smiles from the Lady Badgers after their 70-17 victory over Taylor were wiped away with two words: Salado won.

Heading into Tuesday’s contest, Lampasas not only needed to defeat Taylor but also needed Salado to lose to Burnet. That scenario would have set up a play-in game between Lampasas and Salado for the third and final playoff spot from the district.

When the UIL’s realignment and new districts were announced last week, Lampasas football coach and athletic director Joey McQueen was able to sit back and relax.

Murray leads Badgers in comeback win at Taylor

When things went the wrong way for Lampasas in Tuesday’s game at Taylor, Mason Murray knew it was time to step up and make a big play.

The junior guard practically carried the Badgers on his back offensively, as he led the team with 20 points.

But it was the final point for Murray that was the biggest – and the hardest for him to make.

Girls’ Soccer

The Lady Badger soccer team won its first district game of the season, defeating Gatesville 3-1. Analise Watson scored all three goals for the Lady Badgers.

Lampasas plays at Salado tonight at 5:30.
